About Me
I am Loren Gerdis, Senior Occupational Therapist at Smiling Star O.T.
I graduated with an Honours Degree in Occupational Therapy (Bachelor of Science) from the University of Cape Town in 2007. I also completed my certification in Ayres Sensory Integration through the South African Institute of Sensory Integration in 2010 .
After working in the UK, I returned to Cape Town where i ran a successful paediatric private practice for 12 years, prior to immigrating to Sydney in 2021 where I founded Smiling Star Occupational Therapy in the Eastern Suburbs of Bondi Junction.
I have a passion for working with children and their families and guiding children to grow and develop in ways that help them engage successfully and meaningfully in daily occupations. I also have a special interest in Sensory Integration Therapy and have seen the benefits of using various sensory modalities through play to engage with children and to help them to thrive both in the home and school environments.

At Smiling Star Occupational Therapy we work with children and adolescents to help them achieve their daily goals. These may include self-care, school and play.
By focusing on these key areas, we help children to develop their confidence, self-esteem, social skills and general well being.
